The Peppered Moray Eel, Gymnothorax pictus, also known as the Painted Moray or Paintspotted Moray, is a species of Moray with a slender white body and varied spots or splotches across its body. They are carnivorous so should not be kept with small fish or small sessile inverts that may become prey. Additionally, this eel should be kept in a large tank with plenty of live rock, a tightly sealed lid to prevent escapes, and a sandy substrate.
The Peppered Moray's diet will be carnivorous including frozen and live meaty foods. It is recommended to use feeding tongs to ensure the food makes it to the eel as they have poor eyesight. Be very careful if using your hands as they can bite. If cared for properly, the Peppered Moray can be one of the most fantastic organisms in any aquarium.
