The Multicolor Pygmy Angelfish is commonly referred to as the Pastel Pygmy Angelfish or Many-colored Angelfish because of its exquisite pale peach-orange to yellow colorations. The Multicolor Pygmy Angelfish is a deep-water species that do well in low light aquariums. It is very shy and needs plenty of hiding places to hide in order to make it feel comfortable. With its beautiful body color, the Multicolor Pygmy Angelfish makes a gorgeous addition to any tank. It needs a minimum of a 50 gallon tank with plenty of live rocks that encourage the growth of algae that allows it to graze over it in between the meals. If the Multicolor Angelfish is to be housed with other dwarf angels, a 80 gallon or larger tank is required. It may nip over the corals, sessile invertebrates or clam mantles that are present in the tank, therefore it is considered reef safe but with caution. The Multicolor Angelfish is one of the more aggressive dwarf angelfish. Thus in a community aquarium its tank mates should not be smaller or less aggressive fish. Do not house with fairy wrasses, gobies, butterfish, other pygmy angelfish and anthias. Some better tankmates fish that they can be kept with include dottybacks, tangs, larger angelfish, less aggressive triggers and damselfish. is recommended for fish only community aquariums.  The Multicolor Pygmy Angelfish is very sensitive to copper-based medications. It is a hardy fish and it should be given a diet that includes Spirulina, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other high-quality meaty items. The Multicolor Pygmy Angelfish is moderately easy to care for and makes a good choice for an intermediate aquarist. Once it is acclimatized in the water, the Multicolor Pygmy Angelfish becomes really hardy and eats well. It is semi aggressive and can be kept with larger and rather territorial angelfishes like Pomacanthus and Holacanthus. I t thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit and pH of 8.1-8.4.
