The Mozambique Blenny, Meiacanthus mossambicus, also known as the Harptail Blenny, is a unique species of Blenny native to the Indian Ocean waters of the African nation, Mozambique. Their bodies are a silver/grey color with a jet black dorsal fin, vibrant yellow tail, shades of green on its forehead, and black caudal fin.
Like other blenny species, the Mozambique Blenny is incredibly active in the tank and is bursting with personality. It will be found perching on top of live rock, hiding within crevices occasionally peeking its head out to keep watch, and can be observed swimming around the tank in a unique hopping motion. They are best kept in tanks of at least 30 gallons with plenty of live rock and a tightly sealed lid to prevent escapes.
With a unique venomous morph, predators can't really digest the Mozambique Blenny and will spit it out if it gets caught in a larger predator's mouth.
