Merulina Coral, Merulina sp., also commonly known as Lettuce Coral, can be found in a multitude of colorations including green, gold, neon green, brown, gray, tan, and yellow with new growth areas being brighter in color. Colony shape can also be quite varied - plate shaped, or branching, or both types of colonies can be found in Merulina Coral. Merulina Coral is best kept in tanks with high levels of lighting, moderate waterflow, and can be placed at any level of the aquarium. Colonies of Merulina Coral grow quite quickly and large in the wild so place the coral understanding this. Also note that the Merulina Corals tentacles extend and night and can harm neighboring corals if placed too closely. Calcium levels should be closely monitored in the tank. Overall, Merulina Coral can provide an explosion of color to any reef tank and be a fascinating SPS coral to watch mature.
