The Lightning Wrasse, Halichoeres cyanocephalus, also known as the Yellow Cheek Wrasse, features a beautiful electric blue body with yellow bands across its face and sides. As a juvenile, its colors are more purple.
Generally not considered reef safe as they may eat small inverts, the Lightning Wrasse are great for large FOWLR tanks. They are best kept in tanks of at least 65 gallons with plenty of live rock hiding places, a thick sandy substrate, and a tightly sealed lid to prevent escapes. Lightning Wrasses will eat a varied carnivorous diet as well as some quality flake foods.
