The Hooded Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus bathyphilus) is a relatively newly discovered species, first being described in 2003. They have a vibrant red or pink body, a yellow posterior/underbelly and purple fins. They can be found among the reefs of Australia and Fiji and primarily feed on small invertebrates, like shrimp and worms. They spend their time scavenging the corals and rocks for food and require plenty of hiding space in a home aquarium. They reach a maximum size of 4 inches and should be kept in an aquarium with at least 40 gallons. They do best if kept singly or in a bonded pair, and should have plenty of live rock to hide among, as well as space to swim around. Due to its small size, it is not recommended to house larger, predatory fish with C. bathyphilus.
