The French Angelfish is very hardy and beautiful as well, which makes a beautiful addition to any tank. The Juveniles have been noted to pick parasites off from other fishes in the wild and make their cleaning station. The French Angelfish should be kept in a tank not less than 120 gallons and should be given a varied diet of large chunks of meaty foods. The French Angelfish is commonly referred to as the Black and Gold Angelfish, Black Angel. It is usually seen in pairs and is believed to stay together until separated by death. Juveniles are found to be dark brown to black and decorated with curved yellow bands across the head and body that fade as they age, and rounded fins that square and get pointed as they get older. The French Angelfish is comparatively hardy species and adapts well in the aquarium. The French Angelfish requires plenty of live rocks and suitable hiding spots that give it a natural browsing behavior. Since it is found nipping at corals, stony corals and clam mantles, the French Angelfish is not considered safe for reef tank setups. Provide it with a varied diet of with meaty foods including mysis or frozen shrimp, high quality Angelfish preparations, marine algae and spirulina for its continued good health. It thrives well in a temperature range of 74-78 degrees Fahrenheit and pH of 8.1-8.4.
