The Purple Firefish Goby, Nemateleotris decora, has a lavender/white body with purple markings on the face and dark red and purple colored fins. They are very hardy and peaceful, but may become territorial towards other blennies, gobies or dartfish in smaller tanks.
Gobies tend to stay mainly towards the bottom of the tank, burrowing and sifting through the sand. However, this goby is also a known jumper, so a tight fitting lid is suggested. Diet should include a variety of frozen or live mysis shrimp and vitamin enriched brine shrimp 1-2 times daily.
A beautiful fish who is a wonderful addition to my tank. He likes to hide under the rocks when scared but he is right out there at feeding time wanting his share. I have him in a tank with 3 clownfish and 2 neon cleaner goby. A perfect combo.
Really neat addition to anyone looking to add some color and movement to the lower portion of the tank. Mine loves to hang out with the clowns near the sandy bottom.
