The Cobia or the Rachycentron canadum) is a perciform marine fish from the Rachycentridae family. It is also known by various other names such as the black kingfish, the black salmon, the ling, the lemonfish, the crabeater, the prodigal son, the black bonito, and the aruan tasek. It has a long fusiform or spindle-shaped body with a flattened head. The fish body is covered with small scales. It has small, squeaky eyes and a lower jaw to be easily identified from a distance. The predominant stripes on its body gets darken and background color lightens during spawning.
