The Cleaner Shrimp, Lysmata amboinensis, also known as the Skunk Cleaner Shrimp or Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp is aptly named for its amazing ability to clean the junk and parasites off of fish. They will not discriminate and clean parasites from fish of all shapes, sizes, and aggression levels. When not cleaning, the Cleaner Shrimp will spend its time hiding inside rockwork caves. The Cleaner Shrimp features a single white stripe, from head to tail, across an orange/translucent body, and six white antennae. They will often dispose of their exoskeleton in a process called molting. The Cleaner Shrimp requires almost no attention once introduced to the tank and are very peaceful. They are one of the most ubiquitous and popular shrimp species in the world, and for good reason, they are incredibly beneficial and pose no risk to having in your aquarium.
