The Black and White Snapper, Macolor niger, is also known as the Macolor Snapper, Grunts Sweetlips, Macolor Snapper Sweet Lips, Black Snapper, and the Macolor Niger. The Black and White Snapper is usually a dark blue/black color with white bands and dark fins.
Usually reserved for experienced aquarists, the Macolor Niger is best kept in a tank of at least 150 gallons with plenty of live rock hiding places and open swimming space. Once acclimated, it is a healthy eater, hardy individual, and will adapt well to most tanks. Sometimes, especially when underfed, the Black and White Snapper may pick on smaller fish or ornamental inverts so be cautious with tank pairings. They should also be kept as individuals.
