The Barred Knifejaw (Oplegnathus fasciatus), also known as the Striped Beakfish, is endemic to the Indo-Pacific Ocean, including the coasts of Japan and Hawaii. They have a compressed, white body with 5 - 7 solid, vertical stripes and solid black fins. They can reach sizes of nearly 30 inches in the ocean, and thus be housed in large, fish only aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Their teeth have fused into one, giving their common names "knifejaw" and "beakfish." They should be fed an omnivorous diet of crustaceans and occasional seaweed.
