<isc:description><![CDATA[Refugiums help keep beneficial organisms (like copepods) thriving in an environment where they can reproduce and colonize without any predators or other distractions. As the organisms multiply, some are discharged into the display tank continuously as the water pumps into the aquarium. This keeps a constant replenishment of food for fish, corals, and inverts, as well as adds another excellent group of aquarium cleaners on a micro scale helping clean detritus off of live rock and other areas unreachable by your clean up crew. A refugium can aid in keeping an aquarium stable and consistent which is every aquarists goal.

Macro Algaes can be kept in your refugium to provide an environment suitable for these micro organisms. There are many kinds to consider, each will help remove harmful nutrients from the aquarium and help reduce nitrates. Beneficial Macro Algaes are a great food source for all copepods, fish, and other marine life. Some aquarists will store the macro algae in the refugium and feed their fish from the constantly growing supply of Algae because it is readily available. It is a great source of nutrition and stability for any marine aquarium and/or refugium.

<isc:description><![CDATA[The Goldflake Maroon is an interesting variation of the Gold Stripe Maroon Clownfish. Typical individuals exhibit stripe extensions and / or spots and while Premium fish will have significant portions of their bodies covered. Premium Goldflakes are exceptionally rare and availability will be extremely limited.

Like all Gold Stripe Maroons these fish start out with white colored stripes that turn gold as they mature with the first signs appearing around 12 to 18 months of age. Because they are shipped at 8 to 10 months of age hobbyists will be able to enjoy the beautiful transition phase from white to gold. Information from ORA Farm website.]]></isc:description>

<isc:description><![CDATA[ORA is proud to offer a new soft coral from our collection, Grube’s Gorgonian (Pinnigorgia flava). Grube’s (pronounced Grooba’s) Gorgonian is a graceful, thin-branched octocoral that can be described as tan to pink in color with similarly colored polyps. We obtained this coral from Julian Sprung and we’ve been impressed by its hardiness and rapid growth. It has an extensive history in the Aquarium Hobby which Julian was glad to share with us:

“It was originally collected in the Philippines around 1990 by Klaus and Rosalia Grube. From their aquarium in Berlin it has spread all over Europe. So many people have it but don’t know where it came from. I got my colony from the Grubes and grew it for several years into a big bush. I gave a cutting to Peter Wilkens, who took it back to Switzerland and grew it at Wiwi Aquaria. He gave a cutting to Jean Jacques Eckert in France, who still cultivates it in his aquarium. I lost my original colony suddenly about 12 years ago, but was able to get a new cutting from Jean Jacques Eckert during a visit with him for a Récif France conference. I’ve been careful to maintain it now in several tanks. For me this coral is always a reminder of my visit to Berlin where I met Dietrich Stüber and the many wonderful hobbyists there, including Klaus and Rose Grube.”]]></isc:description>

<isc:description><![CDATA[The Toadstool Leather doesn?t have any hard exoskeletons like large polyped and small polyped stony corals. If provided with ample amount of light, good filtration and moderate flow, the Toadstool Leather adapts well to aquarium conditions. The Toadstool Leather is also named as ?octocorals? because of the presence of eight tentacles on individual polyps. The Toadstool Leather requires moderate water flow that clears the waste products away from the Toadstool Leather and to deliver complementary planktonic foods that float in the water. Often, the Toadstool Leather releases toxins into aquarium from time to time, as these toxins inhibit the growth of some delicate corals, but a proper chemical filtration can lessen this effect on hard coral growth. The Toadstool Leather thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degree Fahrenheit, and a pH of 8.1-8.4. Additional supplements of trace elements such as strontium, iodine etc. have proved beneficial in its continued health and growth. The Toadstool Leather has a unique feature of self cleaning mechanism that keeps out the harmful algae from growing on its surface. This coral closes up or retracts while forming a mucus layer, which later gets shed and is removed in order to maintain pristine water quality. It is very easy to propagate the Toadstool Leather in captivity by simply cutting its frags, and that makes it a great coral for a beginner. ]]></isc:description>

<isc:description><![CDATA[The Alveopora Frag forms branching colonies with polyps with 12 tentacles. It is fairly delicate and may do well in a fairly nutrient rich reef tank. The Alveopora Frag does not need intense lighting but moderate, along with moderate water motion to maintain their natural habitat conditions. It thrives well in a temperature range of 78 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. The Alveopora Frag is not that aggressive in nature and hence does well with other tank mates. It is photosynthetic in nature and manufactures its own food using light energy, and will not take offered food. Instead, the Alveopora Frag benefits from nutrient rich water, hence additional nutrients need to be added in the water to maintain that high nutrient level in the aquarium. Maintaining correct calcium and alkalinity levels is undoubtedly important for skeletal development. This coral resembles a pot of flowers and therefore also named as the same, flower pot. Whenever clownfish doesn?t get the anemone as a host, it takes refuge in the tentacle polyps of the Alveopora. Actinic lighting is recommended for the aquarium hosting the Alveopora coral. It is very difficult to maintain and is receommended for advanced aquarists only. The Alveopora may sting other corals if it comes in contact with them, therefore keeping the corals at a distant is advised. Also, the species or corals which thrive in limited nutrient level should not be kept along the Alveopora Frag, since it needs nutrient rich water for its survival. ]]></isc:description>

<isc:description><![CDATA[The Pygmy Angelfish is a beautiful little fish also named as a Cherubfish. It exhibits a beautiful blue body with yellow orangish face, along with blue rings around its eyes. Due to its small size, the centropyge angel dwarf angelfish looks great in a small aquarium. The centropyge angel dwarf angelfish loves to swim and is very active in nature. Also, it loves to hide over few spots and is recommended to keep a few live rocks, crevices in the home aquarium. The Pygmy Angelfish is not really a reef safe fish and intends to eat the mucous over the corals instead of it flesh, and it eventually dies from the stress. The Pygmy Angelfish has a very good life span of 5 years in captivity, which makes it a valuable addition to any home aquarium. It is hardy fish and notorious to docile fishes such as gobies, firefish, and flasher wrasses and we suggest you not to keep it with these aforementioned fishes. The Pygmy Angelfish grazes over the algae growth on live rocks and can be fed three times with additional foods such as spirulina algae, Mysis shrimp, and shaved shrimp for a continued health growth. The pygmy angel is very hardy and very easy to care for. There should be minimum 30 Gallons for a single Pygmy Angelfish and 75 G if you are keeping a pair, along with a maintained temperature range of 72-72 degrees Fahrenheit. The Pygmy Angelfish has spawned in captivity. ]]></isc:description>

<isc:description><![CDATA[The Deep Sea Yellow Gorgonian is an attractive branching tree-like coral, which is extremely brittle and can break off easily. It is non-photosynthetic in nature and needs adequate space away from neighboring corals or anemones. Its tendency to break off from the main stem leads to an easy propagation in your home aquarium. The Deep Sea Yellow Gorgonian requires a moderate amount of light depending on the amount of filter feeding food that is available. It thrives well in a stronger water flow and with strontium, iodine and other trace elements in the water. If you observe algae growth on this Deep Sea Yellow Gorgonian, remove it immediately, and brush it off softly to prevent further tissue deterioration. Also, by soaking the Deep Sea Yellow Gorgonian coral in the freshwater of same temperature for about 1 minute combats the growth of algae. The Deep Sea Yellow Gorgonian can be fed a few times a week with a filter feeding food and can be provided with the varied diet of live or frozen baby brine shrimps, phytoplankton and other micro foods. It often requires target feeding in which the food is given at regular intervals and straight to the polyp, sometimes with the help of a dropper. The Deep Sea Yellow Gorgonian can be kept in a captive reef aquarium with tiny polyps form colonies that are normally erect, flattened, branching and reminiscent of a fan. The Deep Sea Yellow Gorgonian is mainly supported by a skeleton of tightly grouped calcareous spicules, therefore additional calcium supplements helps in continued good health. They do require care, or they will waste away in captivity. The Deep Sea Yellow Gorgonian takes a little adjustment while adapting to new water parameters, but once it acclimatized it opens up within hours and does well in any home tank. It is peaceful and requires a piece of live rock to anchor its base. Being non-photosynthetic, it is more challenging to take care of the Deep Sea Yellow Gorgonian by feeding them at regular intervals with appropriate food. ]]></isc:description>

<isc:description><![CDATA[The Orange Plate Coral is interesting and easy to care for, and that makes it a very good choice for a novice aquarists. It requires only moderate lighting and little to no water movement. It is often referred to as a Disk, Mushroom, Chinaman, Fungia Plate, or Tongue Coral. The Orange Plate Coral shows thick skeletal structure that grows fast and needs a supplement of calcium and trace element in order to flourish. Supplement feedings of meaty foods, Mysis shrimps can be given as target food to them for a continued good health. Since, the Orange Plate Coral has short tentacles, it is considered as semi aggressive and is capable of defending itself by stinging its neighbors. Its unique characteristics ensures its survival, i.e. its inherit ability to move itself to more favorable locations by way of inflating and deflating its tissues. The Orange Plate Coral should be placed on a soft substrate, and it thrives well in a temperature range of 74-81 degree Fahrenheit. An interesting fact regarding the Orange Plate Coral is that it exhibits a unique behavior called polyp bailout that is to produce offspring in the event of death. This even happens three or four months after the coral dies and the offspring grows out of the skeleton and eventually move to the sand bed. It can be further fragged, or cut into half, to make two colonies. Though the Orange Plate Coral is a photosynthetic in nature, it also benefits from a small piece of raw table shrimp, frozen Mysis shrimp, silverside once a week. After the lights are turned on the Orange Plate Coral extends its feeding tentacles and quickly accepts food. ]]></isc:description>

<isc:description><![CDATA[Snowflakes are a popular variant of A. ocellaris that have a considerable amount of irregular white markings on the body. The edges of the white coloration will typically be jagged and angular.

Each Snowflake is evaluated by an experienced grader for the percentage of white and the attractiveness of the striping. Just as their name implies - no two are alike.

This popular clownfish was originally produced by Tropical Marine Centre in the UK around 1999. At that time extra white patterning was considered an undesirable trait. TMC had two, completely normal looking pairs of Ocellaris that produced two or three snowflakes once every couple of spawns. These pairs are still alive and reproducing today but they no longer produce Snowflakes. Only around 100 of these fish were ever exported to the United States making F1 Broodstock direct from TMC extremely rare. ORA obtained it’s first pair of F1 Snowflakes in 2005 and we have been working on developing a hardier and more colorful strain of this beautiful clownfish ever since.]]></isc:description>
