The Waved Nerite Snail is not only a hardy snail, but also features an exquisite Black and Yellow design on its shell. Their shells give protection to their soft body and keep them safe from the predators. They are indigenous to Florida and also in Caribbean. The Nerite Snail can amazingly acclimatize to the provided environment in the aquarium. They do not grow much and are considered to be wonderful scavengers. The Nerite Snail features a very small shell and it keeps grazing over the rocks covered with algae. Thereby, it is suggested to keep some live rocks in the aquarium. Even though these snails are hardy, they are a bit sensitive to high nitrate levels and copper based medications.        There are no distinguishing characteristic to differentiate males from females therefore, it is hard to breed them in captivity. They are extremely easy to keep and do not require much attention. The Nerite Snail is a perfect snail for the reef aquarium because it will not grow too large, and will not disturb other corals or rockwork. They have a long life span that makes them a great addition to any aquarium. The Nerite Snails are herbivores and can be fed with phytoplankton, diatoms and other small algae. These are mostly found in brackish water and freshwater, and are found in and around Pacific and Caribbean oceans. If you have a stable aquarium setting with sufficient algal growth, you do not need to feed the Nerite Snails.
