The Twin Spot Hogfish is commonly referred to as the Yellow Candy Hogfish, Two Spot Slender Hogfish, and the Yellow Hogfish. With its vivid yellow colored body along with the faint red horizontal stripes as well as a black spot located behind the eye and close to the tail, it makes a stunning and captivating fish in the aquarium. The Twin Spot Hogfish should be kept in a tank not less than 30 gallon along with many hiding places. Since it is peaceful and shy at times, it needs a few caves to hide when needed. The Twin Spot Hogfish can easily adapt to a new environment, and if you wish to have a group of this fish, then we suggest you to introduce all at a time to reduce any kind of aggressive issues. It is slightly territorial and needs its own niche to survive peacefully. As the Twin Spot Hogfish grows, it may nip over the small ornamental shrimps that are introduced to the aquarium afterwards. Therefore, it may be considered a reef safe species but with caution. Since it is carnivores, the Twin Spot Hogfish should be given a diet of meaty foods that include vitamin enriched brine shrimp or mysis shrimp and a high quality marine flake food. It thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit and pH of 8.1-8.4. The Twin Spot Hogfish grows up to 4 inches and is easy to care and maintain, which makes it a good choice for a beginner aquarist.
