The Swissguard Basslet is commonly referred to as the Peppermint Basslet. With its beautiful elongated body and alternate black and mustard yellow stripes, it makes a captivating addition to any tank. The Swissguard Basslet is considered a moderate reef dweller, as it doesn?t bother the reef tank inhabitants, but may pose threats to smaller, ornamental crustaceans. The Swissguard Basslet can be given a diet that includes meaty foods including marine fish, crustacean flesh, mysis shrimp, and quality frozen preparations. It thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit and pH of 8.1-8.4. The Swissguard Basslet grows up to 3 inches and needs to be kept in a tank not less than 10 gallons. The Swissguard Basslet is easy to care for and that makes it a good choice for a beginner aquarist. The Swissguard Basslet is semi-aggressive in nature and should not be housed with peaceful species. The Swissguard Basslet prefers a tank along with plenty of places to hide and swim, along with many live rocks that encourages the growth of algae on which it can feed in-between. The Swissguard Basslet may not eat if intimidated or stressed by larger tank mates or by another Liopropoma in the tank, so make sure not to house it with predatory fishes. It is necessary to keep the Swissguard Basslet under a sealed tank, because it may jump out of the aquarium.
