The Banded Shrimpgoby attributes vivid and stunning coloration, which makes it a gorgeous addition to any reef tank and captivates any onlooker. The Banded Shrimpgoby is also commonly known as the Bullet Goby or Brown Barred Goby. Being petite in size, it is considered a good fish for a nano aquarium. The Banded Shrimpgoby loves to burrow under the sea bed and therefore a thick sand bed is required for it to thrive. It often shares its burrows symbiotically with Alpheus shrimps, which are almost blind, and will aid in digging out the Banded Shrimpgoby an extensive burrow and in return the gobies alert the shrimp to retreat if any invader comes closer to its proximity. The Banded Shrimpgoby does well in small groups or pairs as long as it is added at the same time, so that it can establish its own territory within the aquarium. The diet includes a variety of live and frozen meaty foods such as brine shrimps, mysis shrimps, live black worms and pother prepared foods for carnivores. The Banded Shrimpgoby should not be kept in a tank not less than 30 gallon and it prefers to have peaceful fishes in the tank along with many hiding places. Also, this Amblyeleotris sp. has been known to spawn successfully in an aquarium. The Banded Shrimpgoby is considered peaceful and a very good fish for a reef tank or community fish tank. The Banded Shrimpgoby looks awesome when it can be employed in a symbiotic role in the reef aquarium, and it will help keeping the upper layers of live sand stirred by taking mouthfuls and then expelling it through its gills.
