The Pinstripe Wrasse is also commonly known as Dusky-tail rainbow fish, Hoeven?s wrasse, melanurus wrasse, neon wrasse, orange-tipped rainbowfish, pinstripe wrasse, tailspot wrasse, yellow-lined wrasse. It has a body of blue-green color with pink or yellow stripes running horizontally across its sides. It is very hardy and is resistant to diseases and that makes it a very good choice for a beginner aquarists. It loves to burrow inside the sand to sleep and to escape perceived danger, therefore a thick sand bed is required to be present in the tank. It is also advised to keep the Pinstripe Wrasse in a closed aquarium, as it intends to jump out and cause unnecessary accidents. Adult Pinstripe Wrasse coloration shows more vivid color than the juveniles. It is a peaceful but is problematic for a reef set up. The Pinstripe Wrasse looks lovely and interesting to see them moving over and around the rocks with an inquisitive mood. A variety of food should be given to the Pinstripe Wrasse like large chunks of meaty foods, krill, raw table shrimp, squid, slam and mussel, for its continued good health. The Pinstripe Wrasse should be kept in a tank not less than 20 gallon, and can feed on fireworms, pyramidellid snails, and other corals. Therefore should not be kept in a tank along with these aforementioned organisms.
