The Pectinia Coral is a SPS coral, which is also referred to as the Lettuce, Hibiscus, Palm, Carnation, or Cabbage Coral. The Pectinia Coral features cabbage like colonies along with ruffled branches that terminates as sharp points. The Pectinia Coral has a dark center with varying colored colony, and with its beautiful color and unique form, it makes a beautiful display specimen in the tank. The Pectinia Coral is moderately difficult to maintain that makes it not so good choice for a novice aquarist. Since the Pectinia Coral is a peaceful coral, it can be kept in close proximity to other peaceful-natured corals. The Pectinia Coral needs addition of calcium, strontium and other trace elements in the water for its continued good health. The Pectinia Coral can be fed with micro-plankton or other foods designed for plankton feeding animals. The Pectinia Coral takes out the tentacles at evening and should be fed during that time only. The Pectinia Coral thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit and pH of 8.1-8.4. The Pectinia Coral is not a hardy coral and does best in a well-established aquarium with good lighting. The water movement should be moderate to high, as that helps in carrying the waste and debris away from the colony.
