The Yellow Assessor, Assessor flavissimus, also known as the Gold Assessor, the Gold Assessor Basslet, or the Golden Mini Grouper is a relatively rare fish to be imported to the US. Native to the coastal waters of Australia, the Yellow Assessor is a peaceful species that thrives well in most established reef aquariums. They thrive with plenty of live rock hiding places, a balanced carnivorous diet, and should be kept as only one individual in the tank.

These are one of the more interesting aquarium fish. I have had one for 4 years now. Usually hangs around the back swimming sideways. One of my favorite fish.

This has become one of my favorite fish. Had never owned an aquacultured yellow assessor before and wasn't expecting much. This fish grew into a real beauty. About six months ago it started swimming upside down and that's how it stays all the time now, even during feeding.
