The Zebra Flower Anemone is a small flower-like Anemone. The Flower Anemone, also known as the Rock Anemone or Rock Flower Anemone, can be found in many different colors. The oral disk is generally a different color than the tentacles. The disk is black and white striped with numerous short tentacles around the outer edge. The tentacles of this Anemone are usually ringed and curled. The Zebra Flower Anemone can have many different colored tentacles, such as white, brown, red, green, or yellow. These Anemones are very hardy and should be provided strong lighting and water flow. Anemones will not tolerate poor water quality. Unlike other anemones, Zebra Flower Anemones usually do not host clownfish, but they will host sexy shrimp, anemone shrimp, and porcelain crabs. Also unlike other anemones, once introduced into an aquarium, Zebra Flower Anemones are not likely to move and roam around the tank. Zebra Flower Anemones tend to prefer clinging to rocks in either a shaded or well-lit area of the aquarium, although Flower Anemones also tend to bury themselves into the substrate leaving only their tentacles and oral disk out of the sand. Anemone species are differentiated by the color, shape, placement, and length of the tentacles. They will also take in food by using their tentacles to slowly move the prey to their mouths which is a slit in the center of the body. Zebra Flower Anemones are photosynthetic, but also require a meaty diet such as chopped fish, mussels, and mysis. Iodine and trace elements may be supplemented to help the Flower Anemone thrive.
