The Elegant Seastar is commonly refereed to as the Necklace Starfish, Tiled Starfish, Sea Star. The Elegant Seastar requires slow drip acclimation period in order to adjust in a new environment. The Elegant Seastar requires 1.025 ppm salinity. The Elegant Seastar is consider one of the hardiest starfish, and is quite sensitive to changes in pH, temperature, and salinity changes. The Elegant Seastar stays relatively small and is better suited for smaller aquariums. Being peaceful in nature the Elegant Seastar makes a good choice for a community fish tank. The Elegant Seastar doesn?t bother any sessile invertebrates or corals and considered to be a good species for reef tank. The Elegant Seastar grows up to 5 inches and need to be kept in a tank not less than 30 gallons. The Elegant Seastar requires a tank with plenty of hiding places to hide; and live rocks that encourages the growth of algae on which it can feed in between the meals. The Elegant Seastar mainly feeds on the microorganisms and film algae that is invisible to the naked eye.
