The Sharpnose Sanderperch is also known as Parapercis sp., Yellowtail Weever, Sharpnose Grubfish, Grubfish, Sandsmelts, Weevers, Cylindrical Weever, Yellowtail Grubfish, Yellowtail Sandperch, Cylindrical Grubfish,Sharpnose Sandperch, Sharpnose Weever, Sharp-nosed Grubfish, Sharp-nosed Sandperch and Sharp-nosed Weever. The Sharpnose Sanderperch features five dorsal spines and 21 dorsal soft rays, which makes it a unique fish in the aquarium. Its unusual body structure makes it a captivating addition to a tank. The Sharpnose Sanderperch can grow up to 5 to 6 inches that is why, it is preferable to keep it in a tank of at least 50 gallons. The tank should have a sand bed that helps the Sharpnose Sanderperch to bury and it usually lives under solid pieces of reef in the sand. Only a single male with a small harem of females Sharpnose Sanderperch is advised to be kept within tank. The Sharpnose Sanderperch feeds on small animals and zooplankton. The Sharpnose Sanderperch is carnivorous in nature and they should be fed with chopped shrimp, enriched mysid and may be weaned to pellet and flake foods
