The Naso Tang is an attractive surgeon fish. Due to its mouth?s appearance similar to the pouted orange lips it is named a Lipstick Tang or Orange Spine Unicornfish. With its orangish lips and a pair of spines surrounded by a bright orange area on either side of the caudal peduncle, makes the Naso Tang fish to stand out of the crowd of other fine fishes. Not only this, its bright yellow line running from the back of the mouth till the eye and bold colored stripes on the top and sometimes bottom fin gives the Naso Tang a true statement of beauty. It is mainly found in west and central Pacific. The Naso Tang is very personable fish that once it is comfortable, it can then be trained to accept foods from its keeper?s hand. Being amicable, it can easily get along with other inhabitants. It is also a peace loving fish and hence does not disturb or harm any other inhabitants. The Naso Tang needs a plentiful space along with some live rocks and there it is all set to settle down smoothly in the given reef tank. The Naso Tang can be provided with some meaty foods and a variety of algae. They are very active swimmer, hence need lot of space for swimming during the day as at night they tend to sleep behind rocks and hide themselves from predators. Like all other Nano species, the Naso Tang has the ability to change its body color quickly and dramatically, depending on its mood and environment. When it is excited, it hides in the reef and shows almost black body with gray splotchy patches. Special care is needed while catching the Naso Tang and a double bag is recommended to use instead of a net.

The Naso Tang, a.k.a. Lipstick Tang, is a beautiful, colorful, peaceful, and "easy to take care of" Tang. These fish have a gray body with a black dorsal fin and an orange ventral and anal fin. The face of the Naso is marked with black between the eyes, yellow above the eyes, and orange around the mouth, which gives the appearance of lipstick. The Naso Tang is certainly one of the most popular tangs, due to its hardiness and easy personality. These fish are peaceful towards other species and are voracious eaters. They love to be fed and enjoy lots of swimming room. These fish will often exhibit white spots along their body when the lights in your aquarium first come on. It is nothing to be alarmed about. They are voracious algae eaters. The Surgeonfish family consists of fish which are colorful, thin-bodied, and usually have an oval shape. These fish have long continuous dorsal and anal fins and crescent tailfins. The scalpel at the base of their tailfin is very sharp and is used by the fish for protection from predators as well as a way of establishing itself with other fish. These fish are usually seen at reefs eating algae all day long.
