The Jewel Damsel is commonly referred to as the Jewelfish, which has black colored body with sparkling blue dots in its juvenile stage. But as it matures, it turns brown to yellow with smaller and indistinct spots. The Jewel Damsel is very aggressive in nature, thus it should be kept singly in a tank not less than 30 gallons. The Jewel Damsel feeds on variety of meaty items, and herbivores preparation as well. The Jewel Damsel is very easy to care for, and makes a very good choice for any beginner aquarist. The Jewel Damsel thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit and pH of 8.1-8.4. The Jewel Damsel is safe to keep in a reef aquarium, as it doesn?t bother any sessile invertebrates or clams inhabiting the tank. Some damsels retain the same appearance throughout their entire lives while others undergo a radical color change as they mature from juveniles to adults. The Jewel Damsel needs an aquarium with plenty of rocks and caves, to take refuge or hide when required.
