The Golden Headed Sleeper Goby is one of the larger sized sand sifting gobies. They have a beautiful white colored body with bright golden yellow head that makes it an excellent addition to any aquarium. The Golden Headed Sleeper Goby is a very active as well as peaceful species, and it is great for aerating and maintaining sand beds through sifting the sand and gravel in search of food. It looks amazing on how they take mouthful sand and then spits out all on the sand bed. Due to this action, you might see your stones and gravels lying at every corner of the tank. The Golden Headed Sleeper Goby is very good at jumping; therefore it is advised to keep them in a covered tank. More often they pair up with shrimps to secure their burrow. The Golden Headed Sleeper Goby fishes can be well adapted in any aquarium and even can be seen spawning in some reef tanks. These fishes should be fed with a variety of foods, including fresh and frozen Mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and should be fed at least twice a day. The Golden Headed Sleeper Goby is also known as Pennant Glider, Yellowheaded or Golden Head Sleeper, or Blueband, Bluestreak, or Yellowheaded Sleeper Goby. It is also recommended to keep some live rocks and a thick layer of sand bed to create an environment that gives a realistic feel to the Golden Headed Sleeper Goby.
The Golden Headed Sleeper, a.k.a. Blue Streak Sleeper Goby, is a tremendous sand sifter. These fish lay or hover on the bottom and use their large mouths to sift sand. They like to build small borrows under rockwork.Gobies compose one of the largest family of fish in the ocean. These small fish live around reefs or on sandy flats. Many of the Gobies are known for their burrowing behavior. These fish use burrows in the sand for safety. Some of the Goby species are known to share their burrows with Pistol Shrimp; behavior that can be duplicated in the home aquarium. Most Gobies have cupped ventral fins that nearly join just below their gill plates that serve as perching mechanisms so the Goby can always be on the lookout in a resting position.
