Firefish Goby is also known as a Firefish, or a Fire Dartfish. It has a yellow head, and a body that gradually changes from white to a blush hue or carmine red. The Firefish Goby is a very timid fish that is best suited for smaller reef tanks. It comes from coral reefs in the central and western Pacific, including the Red Sea. Its most distinctive feature is an elongated first ray on the forward dorsal fin. This ray is pink at the front edge and is almost half the length of the entire body. The Firefish Goby is used to wedge the Fire Goby into a burrow for safety from predators. The Firefish Goby has a swim bladder, which allows it to hover in one location for extended periods with its head pointed upwards. It is very popular and is a good choice for the intermediate marine aquarist as these fish are resistant to disease and adapt well to aquarium life. The Firefish Goby is peace loving and shy in nature; therefore, it is absolutely safe to keep in your home tanks with other inhabitants. They have a good jumping ability and are known to jump from pool to pool, so a covered tank is recommended. The Firefish Goby prefer a coral environment, lots of hiding places and a coral sand substrate for burrowing in. This species should be tankmates with passive fish only, and will constantly hide if kept with extremely active fish. As a whole, the Firefish Goby is beautiful, peaceful, harmless, and easy to maintain ? all of which make it a valuable addition to your aquarium. The Firefish Goby is a carnivore, and eats zooplankton, finely chopped and other quality flake foods. Gobies will not touch corals and are too small to eat most crustaceans, so they are reef safe.

The Firefish, a.k.a. Dartfish, is a magnificent little fish that is perfect for reef tanks. These fish have a white forebody and a fiery rear body that is colored in a mix of red colors. The Firefish also has an elongated first dorsal spine that jumps up and down. These little fish have lots of personality and should be kept in a tank with lots of rock work. The Firefish likes lots of crevices, caves, and overhangs where they can hang in place. These fish prefer to be kept in pairs and do well in the home aquarium. They are great for reef tanks and will accept most fish foods.These fish are also jumpers, so precautions should be taken to secure openings at the top of the aquarium.The Dartfish family of fish are majestic little fish with an elongated body.
